The South Carolina Chapter of the American Fisheries Society Service Award was created in 2024 and first awarded in 2025. This award will be bestowed to an individual or group of individuals for exceptional service to the SC AFS Chapter. Nominations can come from any SC AFS member or group of members (including officers) by providing a letter of nomination detailing the service of the nominee(s) and justification for awarding. The only additional requirement is that each nominee need to be member in good standing of the SC AFS.
The Executive Committee of the SC AFS (or a to be appointed award committee) will be tasked with determining if an award is justified. If the nominee is a member of the Executive Committee (award committee), that nominee is not to be present during any part of the award decision process. The Committee has the discretion to grant the award to multiple individuals or groups at the same time. This award may or may not be awarded on an annual basis.
